Miss High School America Photoshoot in the Mountains of Colorado

“How about Colorado"?” was my email to Amanda, the Miss High School America National Director

I was so fortunate to photograph the newly crowned Miss High School America Jr High, High School & Collegiate titleholders in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in early September. It was actually their first professional photoshoot since being crowned this summer in Little Rock, Arkansas. I took special consideration into wardrobe colors for this shoot, as I knew our background would be this beautiful copper red color. I opted for greens, white, and rusty pinks & creams that complemented the rock colors. The titleholders and their moms met me in Colorado Springs at the cutest work/stay hotel filled with backpackers for the nearby trails.

We took to the mountains as well, but in gowns & (sometimes) heels. The girls hung out & made Tik Toks during hair & makeup with Emerie Jones, and then we headed to the beautiful Garden of the Gods for the shoot location. What I loved about this space is that no matter what direction or angle, you got a totally different image. And that came in extra handy when moving around with heavy gowns. We shot until the sun was almost set behind the surrounding mountains, and thoroughly enjoyed our time together!
